How to Check Real-Time TSA Wait Times

One of the easiest ways to reduce airport stress is to check TSA security wait times before you leave for the airport. Knowing how busy security is can help you decide when to leave home and whether you need to arrive earlier than planned.

There are two simple tools I recommend using.

Google

If you search your airport in Google, you’ll often see a chart that shows how busy the airport typically is by hour. While it’s not a real-time measurement, it gives you a good idea of peak security times.

iFly.com

Another helpful resource is iFly.com, which provides estimated TSA wait times at many major airports. You can also see information about airport terminals, lounges, and amenities.

My Personal Tip

Even when the airport doesn’t look busy, I still try to arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Unexpected security backups can happen quickly, and having extra time makes the airport experience much more relaxed.
